Romans 8:31-39
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I’m reminded of one of my favorite Gospel songs by Vashon Mitchell when I read this passage. God empowered each and every one of us when he sent his Son to be crucified (v32) for us! Why are we so afraid to be known as Christians (v33) more and more every day? Why can’t we stand up for what was once the foundation of humanity, let alone the foundation of this great nation?
(My opinion) – The Word of God was written long before the by-laws of the ACLU, or other like organizations that seek to hush the mouths of Christians in the USA. This is only the work of Satan who has easily deceived opposers of His Word that they are doing a service to those who are not believers.
There is not one man or woman on earth that we should fear anymore than God (v34) Himself and Jesus who intercedes on our behalf with the Father for us!! The opinions of others shouldn’t matter, and the way I see it the person will either become more interested in my faith in the Lord, or they will steer clear of me knowing that my faith in Christ outweighs any snide remark or insinuation of doubt that any non-believer may have.
I claim the victory described in verses 37-39, I believe with all my heart that I have nothing to fear because Christ is with me as long as I believe and have unwaivering faith! My faith is the only thing that can seperate me from the promises God has given to me, but faith is something that has to be coninually exercised throughout the day or else it becomes just like an unused muscle, dead and useless to the rest of the body!
